OUR PROGRAM
YI4CE integrates education, advocacy, and community involvement to advance our mission and achieve meaningful impact.
1. The EDUCATIONAL component includes five specific modules on:
Module A: CIRCULAR ECONOMY and ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE (using EJ screening and mapping tools to identify and assess environmental hazards in the communities)
Module B: LIFE-CYCLE MAPPING (resource conservation) and ENVIRONMENT-CENTERED DESIGN THINKING which (unlike human-centered approach) ensures that protections and resources address both human and ecological needs
Module C: Effects of AIR QUALITY on health especially asthma
Module D: Permaculture composting for Green Waste, Produce recovery programs
Module E: WORKSHOPS to educate and create air quality awareness using AIR QUALITY LESSON PLANS and incorporate design thinking principles to reduce exposure air purifiers. (e.g. do-it-yourself home air filtration systems/purifiers and air sensor)
2. COMMUNITY IMPACT: YI4CE empowers youth by providing opportunities through awareness campaigns, handouts, composting events, permaculture workshops, tabling events, and conferences to tackle local environmental challenges and develop real-world solutions.
3. POLICY-ADVOCACY: We interact with and highlight the journeys of local circular entrepreneurs, celebrating the unique aspects of each community to ensure our impact is both extensive and meaningful. Working with local non-profits and the HOPE Youth State-wide Coalition Campaign we address inadequate environmental data collection and manipulation in underserved areas, advocating for open and participatory data practices. By engaging with grassroot individuals, educators, and legislators, we raise awareness, foster youth action, and enhance leadership skills, actively influencing policies to address air quality challenges and advance environmental justice.
